Climb Description

This climb to Puerto Lobo is the slightly more enjoyable of the two ways to climb to Puerto Lobo. The road is a bit quieter and the scenery is slightly more open than on the climb via Fargue.

However it is still not one of our favourite climbs in the area. The road has some traffic until the motorway and there are more enjoyable routes elsewhere on the edge of Granada. Puerto Lobo is a good choice to enter or exit Granada as part of a longer mountainous ride, but it is not the best choice for a standalone route.

It's worth mentioning that the last part of the climb from the village of Viznar is very nice, and can be combined with a climb such as La Alfaguara to make a decent circular ride.

Puerto Lobo is open year round.

Roads & Traffic

The road surface is in good condition throughout.

The road between Granada and the junction with the A-92 motorway has some traffic, even to be slightly annoying on a bike. After passing the motorway, the climb is very quiet until the top.

Puerto Lobo can also be climbed via Fargue.
