Climb Description

The climb to La Alfaguara is a pleasant route into the Sierra de Huétor Natural Park. It is a good option if you are staying in Granada and want to do a decent ride, but don't feel like tackling one of the monster climbs of the Sierra Nevada.

There is open scenery throughout much of the climb and it is a very quiet and enjoyable ride. La Alfaguara is open all year.

Roads & Traffic

The road is generally in good condition.

There is some traffic between the small towns at the start of climb, but this reduces considerably once you enter the Sierra de Huétor Natural Park.

Alternative Routes

This is the only way to do the final few kilometres to La Alfaguara. However, the first half of the climb can be reached from various sides, including a very pleasant climb up from the village of Viznar.
