Climb Description

El Portitxol is one of the most enjoyable cycling climbs in the Valencia province. The ascent from Vallada is by far the most challenging side, with some very steep sections beginning soon after leaving the town.

It is not all suffering though, there are also flatter sections where you can appreciate the beautiful scenery and tranquility. This side has a different character and look to the other three routes up El Portitxol, but it is just as enjoyable to ride in its own way.

El Portitxol is open throughout the whole year.

Roads & Traffic

The road is mostly in very good condition. It is slightly cracked in places, but is barely noticeable when you are riding.

There is almost no traffic on the climb.

Alternative Routes

There are three other ways to reach El Portitxol, all of them enjoyable climbs. The most scenic side is from the town of Moixent; it can also be climbed from Aielo, and from Ontinyent.
