Climb Description

Moncayo is a popular cycling climb - set half way between the cities of Zaragoza and Soria. Parts of the climb have been used in the Vuelta a España, notably in the 2014 edition when Nairo Quintana crashed on a time trial along the lower part of Moncayo.

Moncayo from Vera is slightly more inconsistent than the climb from Tarazona, but it is still relatively steady climb, with no steep gradients.

Moncayo is open as far as the Natural Park boundary throughout the year. The upper part of the climb sometimes closes if there is significant snow during the winter, but it also sometimes remains open.
