Climb Description
Col de la Core is something of the ugly duckling amongst the great cycling climbs in the heart of the Ariège Pyrenees. It is quite easy, fairly unspectacular and in a slightly out of the way location. Indeed, the Tour de France has tackled the climb on fewer than ten occasions - a pitiful amount compared with some of the neighbouring ascents. The climbs from Seix is mostly surrounded by forests and is fairly pleasant, but there are no great views. It does open up a bit towards the top, but without having the picturesque backdrops of some of the neighbouring climbs.
Col de la Core is open throughout the year, subject to weather. Closures due to snow are common in the winter.
