Climb Description

Alto de Rivas is a gentle and steady climb through the Rioja wine region, finishing on the border with the Basque Country. The lower slopes pass through the delightful vineyards that are so typical of the region. After passing through the village of Rivas de Tereso, the climb takes on a more mountainous feel, with a series of looping corners making for a pleasant and fun ride.

Alto de Rivas is open throughout the year.

The road is in very good condition throughout and there is little traffic on the climb.




Alternative Routes

Alto de Rivas can also be climbed from the south starting in San Vicente. From the north it can be climbed from Peñacerrada, but from here it is only a gentle 4km climb.
