Climb Description

Puerto de Alájar from Linares is our favourite climb in the Huelva province. It is not the most challenging, nor the longest; but it is probably the most enjoyable. Apart from a couple of steep pitches in the first kilometre, the gradients are gentle. While the pleasant scenery and superb road surface combine to make this a really enjoyable ride.

Puerto de Alájar is open throughout the year.

Roads & Traffic

Apart from the first kilometre leaving Linares, the road is in excellent condition and is a pleasure to ride.

Traffic is very light throughout.

Alternative Routes

Puerto de Alájar can also be climbed from the San Bartolomé Hermitage.

The climb can also be reached from the north, beginning in the village of Fuenteheridos. This is a very short ascent (just 100m of elevation gain), although it does have some gradients up around 10% in places.
