Climb Description

Mirador del Xap is a little known climb in a region that is very popular with local cyclists. It is one of few roads which connects the Vall de Gallinera and the Vall d'Ebo in the north of the Alicante province. It's relative lack of popularity may well be due to its difficulty, with long stretches in excess of 15% gradient.

However, mixed in with the steep parts, there are gentle sections; most notably a beautiful plateau at the top which offers some fine views down into the valley.

Mirador del Xap is open throughout the year.

Roads & Traffic

The road is generally in good condition and is fully asphalted. There are a few cracked areas and some light gravel in places, but it is absolutely fine for climbing on a road bike. There is almost no traffic on the climb.

Alternative Routes

Mirador del Xap can be climbed from Benissiva on a parallel road, and with similar gradients to the climb from Benialí. It can also be climbed from the south, starting near Alcal&acuate; de la Jovada; this is a much shorter and more gentle side.
