As the profile suggests, this is a fairly easy climb. There are two short, steep sections in the second kilometre, but once you power through these it is very gentle all the way to the top.
Roads & TrafficThe road surface is in fairly good condition. It has been recently asphalted, but it is quite a rough corrugated surface. This is more annoying on the descent than when climbing though. There is very little traffic throughout the climb.
Climb DescriptionThe ascent of Teno Alto via Teno is in one of the most secluded areas of Tenerife. The climb begins 2km to the west of Teno and continues climbing through the village in the direction of El Palmar. The summit is 3km after Teno and is unmarked, but is obvious when you get there.
This ascent of Teno Alto is one of the most inaccessible in Tenerife. The only way to get to the start of the climb by road bike is to first climb from the other side and then descend through Teno to the start.
However, if you are in the area, this is the more picturesque side and is worth the extra kilometres so that you can enjoy the beautiful green landscape towering over the coastline.
The Teno Natural Park is also a very popular hiking area.
Alternative RoutesTeno Alto can also be climbed from the east.
