Climb Description

Coll de Creu is a fairly unheralded climb in the eastern part of the Pyrenees mountain range. However, despite its lack of fame, it ascends over 1,000m in nearly 23km, making it respectable by any standards. The gradients are mostly steady and gentle, with no really steep pitches to worry about.

The climb is one of the most scenic in the Catalan Pyrenees, with some fantastic views looking down into the gorge, particularly on the lower and middle part.

Coll de Creu can be open throughout the year, but closures (usually short term) are fairly common during winter.

Roads & Traffic

The road surface is in good condition throughout and there is little traffic throughout the climb

Alternative Routes

Coll de Creu can also be climbed from Matemale in the south west, but this is much shorter and is more of an inconsistent ascent than a proper climb.
