Climb Description

San Miguel de Aralar is a popular cycling climb in the Navarra region of Spain - close to the border with the Basque Country. The route heads into the Sierra de Aralar mountains and finishes at a 11th century sanctuary. The climb is largely in forest, with the view only opening up slightly in the final couple of kilometres.

San Miguel de Aralar has featured in the Vuelta a España race several times in recent years.

The climb is open throughout the year depending on the weather; but be aware that short term closures due to snow are not uncommon in winter.

The road is in good condition throughout.

There is very little traffic on this climb.
