This is quite a challenging climb due to the inconsistent gradient. The average is not too difficult, but the regular pitches well above 10% gradient prevent you from settling into a comfortable rhythm.
Roads & TrafficThe road surface is generally in good condition. There are areas where it has been relaid and other sections where it is a bit rough, but it is no problem at all to negotiate on a road bike. There is very little traffic throughout the climb.
This is the more spectacular of the two ascents to Haza del Lino. You enter the mountains immediately after leaving the coast and the road is beautifully isolated as it winds up the mountain.
There is not a lot of vegetation on the first part of the climb, due to the arid nature of the area, but the rolling hills provide a great backdrop. At the top you will see more signs of agriculture and, indeed, some of Andalucia's finest vineyards are found near to the top of Haza del Lino.
Alternative RouteHaza del Lino can also be climbed via Rubite.
